This statement by James Allen means that whatever man decides or imagines of himself will be on him. Man can be successful if he imagines he will be. Imagining isn't just getting it also means that you have to have a good attitude towards others to achieve that goal. Everything that happens to him depends on his attitude, this makes up his situation that he is in. For example, your attitude creates your imagination so if you act good, good will come upon you. If you act badly then you will receive bad situations.

I think what James is saying is that if you think or do bad things you don’t have a something good you have something bad and rotten that you can’t eat anymore. Though if you think positively and do/ think good things your fruit is eatable and you won’t have to die off the bad choices that you have made.
