Environmental Health Specialist – Sanitarian
Duties and Responsibilities:
Sanitarians enforce government regulations and advise and educate clients. They improve water and sanitation facilities, as well as improving the quality of community environments. Their duties include:
·         Collecting and analyzing samples
·         Screen samples of possible health hazards
·         Manage sanitation, disposal, and water systems oversee disposal of infectious wastes
·         Develop prevention and education programs
·         Identify health hazard sand ensure compliance with regulations
Salary: $25,000- $50,000
Education:
Students should take college preparatory courses in mathematics, science. These same classes should be applied at high school. A Bachelor’s degree in environmental health or engineering is a minimum requirement. Many require certification and/ or a Master’s Degree in theses, or some related fields.
Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not?

I think I wouldn’t like to become one because I wouldn’t enjoy working as one.
