Sports Medicine
Duties and Responsibilities:
The physician
examines and treats sport or athletic related injuries. They prescribe patient
medications. They monitor the patients during sport events or physical activity
and perform tests. They consult with the patients to determine the appropriate
course of treatment. You will get the opportunity to work with medical professionals
like surgeons, physical therapists, physiologists, nutritionists, and coaches. You
are also asked to come up with ways to prevent the injury and promote health
for other individuals in sports and exercise.
Salary: median pay is $202,790
Education:
Obtain a Bachelor’s
degree with a strong pre-medical curriculum. You must attend an accredited
medical school to earn a doctor of medicine degree. Requires a degree in
medicine from an accredited school and is licensed to practice. It may require at
least 2-4 years of sports medicine experience.

I think I would
like to become one because I would enjoy helping people feel better and allow
them to continue playing a sport that they love and still have fun even when
they are injured.
