Psychologist
Duties
and Responsibilities:
The
psychologists study the behavior and the actions of people to understand and
change their behavior patterns. They provide counseling to
those with emotional, learning, and behavioral problems. They work in schools,
clinics, hospitals, and a private practice. They specialize in education,
clinical, etc. psychology. Their duties include:
- Diagnosing problems
- Interviewing the patients
- Develop and select the
administering tests
- Counsel patients and their
families
- Conduct research.
Salary: $45,000-$65,000
Education:
Students
should prepare for the career in psychology by taking the most challenging (AP
or IB) high school courses in AP or IB classes in English and science. Licensed psychologists must earn a Ph.D. in
psychology. Clinical psychologists need to complete a two-year internship
after earning their doctorate degree and pass oral/written state qualifying
exams. School psychologists must earn at least a master's degree.
Reflection: Do you think
you would like to be one? Why? Why not?
I think I would
like to be a psychologist because I would like to help people in their behavior
problems. Though I would most likely like to be a child psychologist.
