Psychiatrist
Duties and Responsibilities:
Psychiatrists specialize in the problems of mental illness. Just like physicians, they are licensed in a very wide variety of treatment they can also write prescriptions. The psychiatrists can work for the government, have their own private practice, and work for hospitals, clinics or universities. The duties include:
·         Designing treatment programs
·         Conducting psychotherapy sessions
·         Prescribing mental illness drugs
·         Supervise electrotherapy treatments.
·         Conduct research
·         Lead a team of mental health care providers
Salary: $90,000- $200,000
Education:
Just like completing the requirements for the degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine, the psychiatrists need to complete a three year residency in psychiatry.
Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not?
I think I would like to be a psychiatrist because I would enjoy helping patients who have a mental illness. As well as, being able to work with them and conducting research on t.he patients.
